Conservative stomatology

Conservative stomatology includes replacing the hard dental tissues by fillings, treatment of teeth root canals and all the procedures the final purpose of which are healthy, beautiful and functional teeth.

Aesthetic fillings

The fillings compensate for the parts of teeth damaged by caries or trauma and correct the irregularities in form, size and colour of the teeth. Contemporary materials enable us to make the fillings of top quality and aesthetics. Aesthetic fillings are applied to the hard dental tissues by chemical means, and are set by the adhesive technique or sandwich technique. The adhesive technique is indicated for the preparation of shallow fillings on tooth surfaces that are not exposed to great chewing forces. The sandwich technique is the best and preferred method of applying the fillings, especially on back teeth. The filling consists of two layers: the glass-ionomeric cement and the composite material. Glass-ionomeric basis has a protective effect on the dental pulp by continuously releasing fluoride, it replaces and strengthens the central part of the tooth by forming the dentinal core, and reduces the effect of the occlusal stress on the tooth pulp. The composite material gives the filling the required strength, hardness, chewing pressure resistance, as well as the natural and aesthetic appearance of teeth.

Endodontics

small_RVG1The root canal treatment is a procedure which aims to preserve a tooth whose pulp is permanently damaged. The dental pulp (“nerve”) fills the space in the middle of the crown and root of the tooth, and consists of the blood vessels, nerves and various cells. After the ill nerve is removed, the length of the root canal is determined with an endometer and the rvg device, the canal is treated with the state-of-the art technology (Prosper), and finally filled with a bio inert material. The whole treatment procedure is performed in one or two visits.

Removing calculus

The calculus layers may cause the gums inflammation. Their regular ultrasound removal maintains the health of the supporting structures of the teeth (periodontium). The most common cause of loosening and early loss of teeth for the adults is periodontitis, which is primarily the result of the unsatisfactory oral hygiene. The pathogenic bacteria from the mouth cause the inflammation which destroys the periodontal fibres and alveolar bone, causing the development of periodontal pockets which gradually grow deeper and lead result in loosening the teeth. The treatment of periodontitis includes periodical painless treatments – scaling and polishing the root of the affected toot (“pocket curettage”), which eliminate the inflamed tissue and bacteria from the periodontal pockets, prevent the progress of the disease and fixes the loosened tooth. Existing bone defects may be corrected through the surgical implantation of the artificial bone (bone augmentation).

Sandblasting

small_pijesak_poslijeSoft layers on teeth, dental plaque, discolourings caused by pigments from food and drinks, as well as the nicotine colourings with smokers, distort aesthetics of one’s smile. By sandblasting the teeth with tiny particles of sodium bicarbonate the layers of pigments are removed without damaging the tooth enamel.

Teeth whitening

small_Izbjeljivanje_zubi_poslijeIn only a few hours of wearing the individually made splints and carbamide peroxide, under the supervision of the doctor of dental medicine, the teeth can be whitened for a few shades. Beside whitening a larger number of teeth, single teeth can be whitened as well. Biolase’s Epic Laser is the ideal solution for teeth whitening. It can whiten the whole jaw for a few shades in only 20 minutes in the dental office.

Tooth jewerly

ana_mTooth jewerly gives additional glow and a special image to one’s smile. It is affixed to the enamel, mostly of the upper front teeth in the smile line. The procedure takes only a few minutes, and is completely non-invasive, and the tooth jewerly can be removed easily without leaving any traces on the teeth.

Michigan splint

Michigan splint is an individual mobile device made of the transparent acrylate which covers the biting surfaces of the upper teeth and part of the palate nest to the upper teeth line, which is to be worn mostly during the night through a longer period of time. It is used in the treatment of the functional disorders of the chewing system (pain in the jaw joints, chewing muscles pain), bruxism (teeth grinding), joint clicking caused by the frontal displacement of the joint plate, and for the protection of the hard tooth tissues from excessive wear. The splint is non-invasive and its purpose is to achieve even physiological load of the parts of the stomatognathic system, eliminating therewith the persisting symptoms and subjective inconveniences.
